First Tooth, A Tasty Bite and Swallow!

Nicole came to me and said she didn't want to finish her apple because she saw some blood on it. I figured she'd bit her tongue or something, so I asked her to open her mouth. And surprise, she was missing a tooth! A quick glance around confirmed that the tooth was missing...REALLY missing. So I tried to think of a way to diplomatically tell her she'd swallowed her tooth.
I told her that her tooth had come out and congratulated her several times before telling her that the tooth was so tiny that she had swallowed it by accident. (crossing my fingers the thought wouldn't make her want to get sick) But she was only concerned about one thing: the tooth fairy and how could the fairy know about her lost tooth now? I told her I'd let the fairy know and not to worry.

After she felt the situation with the t.f. was under control, her first impulse was to tell family. After calling random family members on my phone last week, she wasn't about to be let call everyone all over again. I told her she could only call a few. So her sweet grandparents got a call from a newly de-toothed five year old who couldn't wait to say she'd lost a baby tooth and eaten it. I actually had no idea kids lost teeth this soon!

Michael wanted a mug shot too. As I praised Nicole for losing a tooth and got so excited for her, I didn't think about Michael. He walked over to her and took a look, asking her if she was hurt. Once he got a negative response, I could see the wheels in his brain turning since he could tell that losing a tooth was a wonderful thing. He said "I want tooth out too!" I did my best to let him know when he's older his teeth will decide to come out. Hope that reasoning works!! Another cute tidbit from Michael: Yesterday I was talking about the doctor and Michael interrupted me saying "I don't want to go to the doctor, he shot me!"

Not to be left out, Jacob wanted to "say cheese" too! Yesterday we ate at a relative's house and for dessert he had some banana pudding. Within a very short period of time, Jacob was WIRED and going crazy running around and making messes every possible way he could think of. Note for future: reserve banana pudding for consumption at home.
