End of school, Hello Kitty bday, Skywatching, Swim

Nicole had her school performance on Friday so we all got to go cheer her on! The kids sang a bunch of songs and we got to see just how hot and sweaty the elementary school gym could get :) Nicole felt like a million bucks to see us waving at her in the crowd.

Diana turned 1 year old yesterday!! I asked the kids in the morning what kind of party to have and we decided on Hello Kitty.

We played "pin the hair bow on the kitty". We blindfolded the kids and spun them around based on how old they are. They LOVED it when it was Jim's turn to spin!

Diana anticipating her cake!

Michael and Nicole split the bow (maximum frosting)

Jake did not want to be interrupted before his first bite!

Diana has made leaps and bounds in development and how she interacts with her world. She was pushing a car around the other day and she babbles all sorts of nonsense all the time while playing. She is incredibly sweet and I love seeing her personality take on more definition as she gets older.

Morehead planetarium offers free skywatching sessions at Jordan Lake a handful of times through the year and Jim and I went on a date to check it out. We saw Venus, Mercury, the Moon, and Saturn. There were a bunch of different telescopes and each person manning the telescope was passionate about skywatching. They took as much time as each individual needed to explain about the planets and other questions each person had. They also handed out skywatching maps so we could identify the stars once the sun had set. It was incredible to study the heavens for a bit and really see how the sky is like a dome over us.

The sunset was so pretty to watch, we got there just as the sun was about done for the day.

Happy Fathers Day to Jim! The kids are so blessed to have such a fun daddy who loves them and loves the Lord. I am so grateful to have a righteous, awesome father for my kiddos.

Nicole had her second swim meet and continues to really do well! It's fun to see her with all her little friends (2 of our neighbors are her age so it's fun for them to be together).

Here's us singing to D for her bday. She was not very patient about wanting to eat her cake, but was sure happy once she got some!
