End of January

Nicole has continued to enjoy her basketball games and figure out all of the rules and skills. She told me she is totally used to the buzzer and whistles now, what a sweetie!

We got a ton of snow!! Okay it was 3 inches but was the best snow in two years and the kids loved the 4 days off school! After the first day of sledding Nicole told me her muscles, especially her arms, were so sore- she was outside almost all day long since it wasn't super cold. Because NC is fairly warm, when it does snow, the alternating between 'cold enough for snow at night' and 'just warm enough to melt a bit during the day' tends to create icy conditions for several days. Seems weird to have so many days off school, but that's why. After a few days cabin fever seems to set in. We loved the snow, but are happy for rain today and the 63 degrees we have coming tomorrow!

The kids hammered and painted these racecars today at the free Home Depot workshop. They LOVE making things they can play with!

Diana has graduated to a big girl bed! She has the bottom bunk under Nicole (Nicole has never used a ladder so it's safe for D), which is a full size bed (way too big but we got it for free so no complaints here!) and she loves being able to explore the room before sleeping. We also moved the boys to a room separate from the toy room for the first time (poor Jim lost his guitar room) but we think it will help them get to sleep easier if all those toys aren't tempting them during bedtime. It also helps that when we have guests we aren't trying to get all of the kids to sleep in the same room.
I'm in the last trimester now and we have a lot planned. Luke, Brandon and my parents & Caleb will all be making trips to come see us in Feb/Mar which will be very fun! Of course, if we find a home to buy in the meantime that would be nice too :)
