Concrete done and sealed. I was doing one coat of sealing by moonlight and then another one at dawn so I could not have Diana's "help." :) The textured look is great much better than looking like a driveway.
I get a discount at a gas station for shopping at a certain grocery store. The more you spend in a month, the better the discount. After a month with family in town and buying lot of extra food I got some pretty sweet discounts at the pump!
In an effort to have a more reverent Sunday with 5 children 8 and under, we've been making lists of fun activities, and have games and puzzles to do as a family. Our Sundays are always a work in progress!
Nicole did Cougar Camp, a week-long 9-4pm basketball camp put on by the high school boys coach. There were 60 kids ages 8-16 and Nicole absolutely loved it. My goal was to give her a little kickstart in her skills and desire to play. Being around so many talented, basketball-loving kids (most of them older) really helped inspire her. Her arm muscles were sore from so much dribbling and shooting :)
Who needs a dog? In my defense, I was busy cleaning up her considerable mess and she decided to capitalize on the leftovers under Diana's chair. Not sure why I ever serve rice since this is always the result.
Sunny nosed the plastic door of his cage open enough to slip through. He is a little Houdini. He then made his way to an air vent in the room and slid through and fell below. We discovered him missing the next day and Jim remembered how Sunny had been pushing his nose against the plastic so he had taped it which apparently had not been enough to stop our intrepid leopard gecko. After a whole day of looking around the downstairs again and again, we decided to wait until night when he normally comes out. With the downstairs dark, Jim used a flashlight and wandered around hoping to see him. Twice he did this. The kids had all prayed several times and were in tears missing their sweet friend. We had kind of given up and the kids were all asleep when Jim felt like he should go down one more time. A few minutes later he ran upstairs and told me that he found him but wasn't sure if he could get Sunny. Sunny was peering up at the air vent but couldn't climb up all the way. Somehow the flashlight had shone on Sunny and Jim saw it. Talk about a miracle! We carefully pried the vent open and Jim reached in and poor, cold Sunny didn't even more and didn't want to leave Jim's hand. We fed and held him while he warmed up. The kids were absolutely thrilled this morning that Sunny was alive and well. We are grateful for the miracle of finding Sunny in the air vent.
Saturday project of the day: putting a drain pipe in before the landscapers sod the back yard this week. This is the last step before we are done with the yard for a while. It has been a lot of work getting the concrete, plants, trellises, garden, bushes, and everything done.
Katy had her 15 month appointment. She weighs 17lbs 14oz and is 31 inches tall. She is less than first percentile in weight and sixty-fifth percentile in height. My new goal is to help her gain a lot of weight with healthy snacks. She's not walking all the time yet, but is growing in confidence.
Miss Diana and her pizza that she's taken the cheese off of. She had her three year dr appointment and weighs 27.8 lbs (17th %) and is 37in tall (42nd %) with a BMI of 14.3 (10th%). She is a very strong girl and can do the zipline completely by herself. She is super independent and could take my attention all day long.
Sweet Jacob eating with his knees up. Just like I used to :)
Nicole reading a Pokémon book. Who'd have thought they'd still be popular?
Male uromastyx Dino in front with the female Rocksy eat the lettuce.
Spike is awesome as ever. I love when his blue stripes on his back lighten up.
Flare is a big girl, she eats all of her bugs and lettuce so well that compared to Spike she is heavy. Both of these lizards are a year old now, we plan to breed them this coming year.
