Hurricane Earl left some amazing wave conditions because of the offshore winds left behind. The weather was mid 80s with a tiny breeze. The water felt so good too! Jacob is almost 6 months so he was more restless...and I can't wait until next summer when he is mobile and can play. He was a trooper though and we had four hours of bliss!
We had Lauren, Marcus and their twin 15- month-olds Quentin and Jackson as well as Jim's friend Dustin join us for this trip. I got to go boogie boarding with Lauren and having friends there made the beach so much more fun!

You can see the twins "jumping" the waves (well, their parents are holding them), Dustin on his paddle board and Jim off in the distance with his surfboard.

Nicole and Michael had so much fun together! The best part was when I got each kid sitting on a boogie board holding tight, and when a wave came up on shore I pull them fast so they would have kind of a skimboard ride. Nicole was good enough that I could spin her around me in a complete circle several times!

Michael loves the beach as much as Nicole! We all enjoyed having time with Jim- this last week has been 15 hour days of marketing, fabricating and a busy appointment schedule. We hope this level of work keeps up! It was funny that we were happy for Jim to have so many hours of work- of course, if this is sustained we will hire. For now, it's just that exhausting start of a business time, but it sure feels good to have things going well.

Kure Beach is awesome because you can drive your truck on the sand (and you have to because the sand dunes you see in the background are protected so there are very few outlets through them-not to mention you'd have to walk a LONG way). Dustin took trips from the parking lot bringing us all out and we had a nice stretch of beach to ourselves-shared with some fishermen and people just sitting out.

Nicole has more courage each time we go- this time she lay down pretending she was a crab where the waves came up and laughed when the waves came and pushed her.

I love to see how the kids bond at the beach and play so happily together.

They still haven't figured out how to make good sandcastles, but they still spend hours digging!

Michael attacking the waves!
We had such a fun Saturday, and even though Jim will need to work Monday during the holiday, we felt like we had a relaxing and enjoyable time as a family. We are so blessed to be able to have such fun together, especially with great friends!
