End of August Fun

Diana is pushing up on her arms now to look around, she is very interested in the action around her- and there is always something going on! For the last week she has slept through the night: 8pm-6:30am. She must sleep so well because it's finally quiet then!

Katrina and Riley stopped by for a visit and we especially enjoyed seeing the interaction between Jake and Riley. Obviously very thrilled at sharing their toys :)

We took a day trip to Topsail Beach. We brought a canopy and Diana's baby swing and that made the trip a lot easier baby-wise. We were camped out just a few yards from where Jim's family came several years ago for a week long beach trip (see the pirate flage in the background? that's at the house)

Jake is still pretty wary of the ocean. He even told me once that it was coming to get him! Little by little he ventured closer to the water, but never got in. He had fun digging holes, making sand castles with mommy, and eating every single snack that we brought (much to Jim's dismay)!

Nicole enjoying some time digging by herself on the shoreline. I went out with her into the waves and I was amazed to see how well she could handle herself in the waves. Wasn't it just a little while ago she was crawling in and out of the surf?

Michael had a great time teasing daddy by trying to take the canopy down several times. He was in the water most of the time, but came back to see what was going on back at base every now and then.

Here we are! Kids totally distracted and wanting to go play more...Still no big crowds and we were there on Labor Day weekend! Of course, we did drive a few miles south of the pier and had to wait a half hour to cross the bridge since we arrived closer to midday...but we just had a few families around us and that was it. Such a fun time for the kiddos! Nicole said "Don't you want to live here?" I agreed, "Every time we come."

We checked out one of the parks on the island and this slide was awesome! You can barely see the top of Jake Jake's head as he goes down. Such a cute little guy and always tagging along with curiosity and excitement.
